Win a Kindle while Fighting the Ultimate Battle!

It is an epic battle, as touching as love versus war, as deep as good versus evil, and as universal as light versus darkness–  it is the vampire versus the werewolf.  We’ve seen it play out in literature like the Twilight series.  It has been featured on film in series such as Underworld.  It seems everyone has an opinion….

my view:

So I’m pretty much an open-minded reader and I enjoy a good blood sucking as much as the next guy, but ever since I learned that vampires *sparkle* in the sun, I’ve been a bit put off…. I mean, what happened to the allure of the undead, pale skin, coffin sleeping, kinda creepy hot vamp we all know and love???  I wouldn’t say I HATE the Twilight series exactly, but it certainly turned me off of vampires for a while.  Lately I’ve been sucked (ha!) back into the world of the undead, however, by the Sookie Stackhouse series and it’s related television series Trueblood.  Now Charlaine Harris knows how to write a vampire!  Like classic Anne Rice, these guys are sexy (ripped, hungry, and vicious) and just a tiny bit sensitive (no glitter, no crying, just a few decent emotions to remind you that they used to human).

The Sookie Series also features a number of Weres that give those sun-fearing, blood-drinking undead seem just a bit tame.  Like the famous Jacob of Twilight, these weres are hairy, virile, and completely warm-blooded!  There is definitely something to be said for that!  While some girls might light to cuddle up to a rock hard, cold, undead piece of meat, I find the idea of a were a lot more exciting.  Sure the claws might get a little dangerous and no one loves the fur everywhere, but at least you can snuggle in and get warm without fearing blood loss.

Concerning the two books in question, my heart is definitely firmly with the weres if for no other reason than that the world of bootleggers seems much more exciting than that of a lumberjack.  I have to say, I would find it more plausible (ahem) for the vamp to be a bootlegger and the were to be a lumberjack, strictly from a daytime versus nighttime nature of these careers, but I’m willing to suspend disbelief even further and give it a try.  And check out that cover!  Sure the tanned, muscular back is nice, but we all know vampires can’t go out in the sun and I have no use for a vamp that uses spray on tanning supplies.  No, I’m feeling that sexy little vest on the bootlegger quite a bit more.

So what do you think?  Vamps or weres?  Blood-suckers or hairballs?  Lumberjacks or bootleggers?  Tell me what you think!

ps: I agree that a lumberjack werewolf would make sense for me because of the close nature connection.

  12. You know, you bring up a valid point: vampire lumberjacks might be hot (and he could have had naturally darker skin before becoming a vampire) but the dressed up werewolf bootlegger would be a lot more fun to get nekkid. Just sayin’

  16. I come from a long line of lumberjacks. I’ll take the family biz and some pesky soul issues over the uncontrolled furry and controlled substances.
That and I read Laurell K. Hamilton and the vamps are be far the better monster. And they hardly ever use tanning supplements.
    Go Team Vampire Lumberjack!

  17. I love vamps and have always had an affinity for them with their mystique and sexy fangs. Go Team Vampire Lumberjack!

Plus, I like a guy that doesn’t hide out in the woods chopping down trees all day.

  28. A new team, a civil war, a revolution!!!
    Team Werevamp Wolfjack
YES!!! I agree I want both too, yeah, the start of a new revolution, I’d love to be in the middle between these two sexy men, a new team. I’m with you, team Werevamp wolfjack, how does that sound?
I had just started to post the following on some of the blogs starting with Blackravens.
I can be a trouble maker, I want both, shame on me huh, blame it on some really good posts numbering the wolf advantage of being able to be out at all times of the day and the fact that he’s warm and really alive and can share a real meal of food. Although the wolfie can take care of me 24/7 and the vamp can only manage about half, maybe they won’t mind sharing, I wouldn’t mind it. After all why can’t I have my cake and eat it too.
Hope everyone doesn’t want to stake me out but I really want both.
    Zina
Viva le revolution, for those that to switch to both, come join us, make your voice heard. This is a war after all!!

  29. Team Werewolf for me! Howling seems kind of sexy! Booze and full moons! what’s not to love?

  30. LOL – Blood-suckers or hairballs? i have to say i love them both. -team swiss

  31. I’m on Team werewolf! Oh yea baby. Loves me a hot were! :)

  32. Werewolves are the bomb. Team Werewolfs rule.

  33. I agree, a warm blooded werewolf is sexier than a cold, dead vampire. And a lumberjack – how boring. A bootlegger has much more danger and excitement in his job.
